Held in London on 9th February, Casemate UK will be shown episodes 1 and 2 and I will post a review for you as soon as is humanely possible.
Airing in the UK on Sky Movies in high definition (the series has been shot entirely in HD) the series is 10 episodes long and cost $200 million. Visit World War II Re-enactor’s Magazine’s website to see the latest trailer.
The Pacific tracks the intertwined odysseys of three U.S. Marines – Robert Leckie, Eugene Sledge and John Basilone – across the vast canvas of the Pacific war campaign during World War II.
The experiences of these men and their fellow Marines take us through the first clash with the Japanese in the bitter jungles of Guadalcanal, through the devastating island battles of Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima, to the victorious return home after V-J Day.
To get you in the mood for this highly anticipated series, eagerly awaited by anyone worth their military history fan salt, we have a number of related books, including Casemate’s D-Days in the Pacific, due in February.
E-mail us the name of the ship on which The Surrender of Japan ceremony occurred by the end of January and you could win a FREE early copy of D-Days in the Pacific. Just add your address and we’ll ship it out when the advances come in.
And now back to counting the days until it airs…
