Joanna Furnace World War II Event

Casemate spent the weekend at historic Joanna Furnace near Morgantown, PA, meeting veterans, hundred of reennactors, and other great people who, like us, are dedicated to preserving military history.

People came from all over to tour a 1940’s home complete with an icebox and a Phil co radio, runway shows demonstrating 1940’s fashion, and the many ways the war changed life on the home front.

There was live music in the traditional 1940’s style, and veterans of all conflicts were honored with a Lighting of the Luminaries.  There was so much for everyone, from the military historian to the family looking for a nice day out, to see and do.

We look forward to next year and thank everyone at the Haycreek Historical Society for volunteering so much of their time to preserve the legacy of the men and woman who fought for our country.
