Casemate spent this past weekend at FALL IN!, one of the largest gatherings of historical miniatures gamers and exhibitors on the East Coast. The recent hurricane didn’t stop huge crowds of war gamers from heading to Lancaster, PA for three days of tournaments, shopping, and catching up with friends.
This year, the convention commemorated the bicentennial of the War of 1812, an anniversary also spotlighted in one of Casemate’s newest releases, When Washington Burned: An Illustrated History of the War of 1812. Other new and popular titles included The Drive on Moscow, A Storm of Spears – which are also available as eBooks – and A History of the Mediterranean Air War, 1940-1945.
For many, this year’s event represented more than an opportunity to reunite with old friends to discuss and explore shared passions; this year’s FALL IN! offered a refuge to those whose homes and businesses were in the path of Hurricane Sandy last week. We spoke with colleagues and customers alike who were still without electricity and heat in towns that have only just embarked on the long road to recovery; it is during times like these that Casemate is grateful to be a part of such a vibrant, close-knit military history community, one which is always ready with a sympathetic ear and a helping hand.
